SPRING 2016 GALLERY INTERNSHIP

THE HOLLAND PROJECT GALLERY »

The Holland Project Gallery is located at 140 Vesta St. in Reno. In any given month, you can see 1-3 exhibitions in the space featuring anyone from local high school students’ art to nationally recognized artists. Our goal is to create the go-to art space in Reno to see young, contemporary artists and their influences both regionally and nationally.

We are looking for motivated students interested in having hands-on involvement in the Reno arts community. Through managing the off-site Micro Gallery, the gallery intern will be an integral part of Holland’s art programming and the community at-large.

YOU » A creative, responsible, organized student with a keen eye for art/design that is interested in learning all aspects of gallery management from coordinating artists and promoting to installation.

RESPONSIBILITIES »

  • Serve as the Gallery Associate for the Micro Gallery

-Develop 2 exhibitions

-Overall gallery promotions, communications and online listings

-Install and de-install, gallery maintenance

  • Aid with gallery sitting at the Main Gallery

-Attend Gallery Committee meetings (1x month)

-Assist with the Young Blood Series

US » The Holland Project Arts Director and staff will provide you with support, direction and feedback throughout the internship duration. We will guide you through our gallery operations as well as provide an avenue for you to offer suggestions, feedback and ideas. Your input and energy will directly impact our gallery and exhibitions.

By the end of the internship, you will have a real sense of how a gallery operates. You will know the basics of coordinating, promoting, installing, hosting and de-installing an exhibition. You’ll also have the opportunity to develop connections within the local arts community including local artists, media sources and art patrons. In addition, you will have gained skills working with Adobe Creative Suites to create promotional material and a variety of web outlets including Wordpress, Facebook, Flickr, Instagram and Twitter.

COMMITMENT »

Internship Period: March 1, 2016 – May 31, 2016 / about 20 hours per month (roughly 3-4 hours per week)

Days/Times: Day to day hours are flexible and will be based on the student’s schedule. Gallery office hours are Tues-Fri 3-6PM and installation typically happen 1x month on a weekend.
