Of the Sol

We are a collective of Black and Brown artists from Reno, NV, mobilizing to cultivate an intersectional safe space for Black, Indigenous, and Artists of Color. As Black and Brown artists, we are committed to nurturing our autonomy outside the framework of traditional, predominately white-serving institutions. We use art as a medium for social justice, fostering representation and belonging as we demand accessibility, equity, and inclusivity.
Our namesake exhibition is an open-call gallery, inviting Black, Indigenous, and Artists of Color of all ages and mediums to showcase artwork that speaks to their roots, ancestral wisdom, and power. Of the Sol is an exhibition about reclamation, a practice in belonging and fostering a community that will include the work of 57 local artists, including:

Of the Sol is the first of many exhibitions, galleries, workshops, and events from our collective. The exhibition will open on Tuesday, August 13th, at the Holland Project (140 Vesta St, Reno, NV 89502), and the opening reception will be on Saturday, August 17th, from 12 pm to 3 pm and will include musical performances from local artists.
