After being overseas for so long (3.5 months), the idea of coming back to America is like going to rehab. You’ve got your withdrawals, your quick fixes, not to mention the culture shock. That’s why it was perfect timing for my old friend from the B.L.C. to ween me back into the ways of being an american. Which leads me to this week’s New Friend Friday or better yet, Old Friend Friday.
Yale Wolf is an honest to god American. A true freedom fighter. He knows that these colors don’t run, never have, never will, unless you hear sirens which definitely mean to sprint. He’s a native of Reno since 83′ and just hit the big 2-4 on March 18th. Presently he’s studying Industrial Design in Lulea, Sweden close to the Arctic Circle and better yet, close to me.His arrival this morning on the Tallink ferry was none to late. First he slowly reintroduced me to American culture, such as bandanas and that Baby Boy da’ Prince song. You know, this is the way I live or roll or something like that. After I began showing signs of assimilation, Yale showed me how to break windows. We finished off the day, somehow covered in paint, glass, and candy. He looked me in the eye, gave me swift pat on the rear, and said I think you’re ready to go back home. So with that, I’m leaving Yale to fend off whaling death metal, cases of Vodka, and reindeer, so many god damn reindeer. I’ll see you all soon and look forward to bringing you your next NFF from my motherland.
