Most Inventive Band Names of CMJ 2007
By Eliot Van Buskirk, Wired Magazine October 17, 2007
Every year around this time, hordes of indie bands descend on New York for the College Music Journal Music Marathon to play in venues all over Manhattan and Brooklyn, confounding attendees who try to see every act they want to see. We’ll post some photos and reviews from last night soon, but for now, let’s talk band names.
Looking over this year’s schedule, one notices that the names are as inventive as ever. Some of this year’s standouts:
A Band Called Pain
AIDS Wolf
Care Bears on Fire
Cut Off Your Hands
Deleted Waveform Gatherings
Future In Plastics
James Fucking Friedman
Let’s Go Sailing
Oh No! Oh My!
Picastro
Rats With Wings
Rock & Roll
Saturday Looks Good To Me
Semi Precious Weapons
Super Potent Death Baby
Tom Schraeder & His Ego
Total Fucking Destruction
