Safe and Sound
September 28 – October 15, 2022
Solo exhibition by Hannah Huntley
The homes in Safe and Sound are peaceful creatures that provoke a sense of calm and curiosity. They are protected places that create a sense of security and comfort in the soft embrace of their walls. Their anthropomorphic appearance represents the individual need to hold everything and everyone that is loved close and never let them go. We are protected by them and become them by protecting those around us.
Hannah Huntley is an interdisciplinary artist from Reno, Nevada. She received her BFA in printmaking at the University of Nevada, Reno in 2019. She is currently pursuing her MFA at the University of Southern California. Her work features anthropomorphized animals and objects that explore human issues with irony. Her color palettes, illustrative style, playful patterns, and soft textures aim to invoke a sense of comfort and nostalgia in her audience. She utilizes satire and comedy to draw attention to the absurdities of human nature, societal standards, gender, and chronic illness.
