Family Slide Show
PressYess
January 17 – 29, 2026
Drawing on PressYess’ ever-expanding image archive, Family Slide Show was a cozy viewing environment where visitors could watch projected slide shows, curate and project their own slide shows, and explore vintage projectors, slide viewers, and slide carousels.
Viewing film slides with analog equipment returns us to a time of anticipation and gathering. Digital reactivation of analog slides and equipment challenges the constant acceleration of technology. Contemporary tools and platforms evolve monthly; Family Slide Show frames analog re-use as a quiet form of resistance, prioritizing durability, care, and shared presence over speed and disposability. Through translation between past and present media, the project creates space for reflection rather than replacement.
The life cycle of materials shapes how we experience them, connecting their physical presence to both past and present. By giving new life and a sense of community to objects that might otherwise be overlooked, PressYess invites viewers to reflect on the stories and memories embedded within these materials. The work emphasizes sustainability, collaboration, and the idea that even the most humble objects can carry deep meaning when cared for, shared, and reimagined.
