Join us for Repair as Rebellion a workshop with local costumer Argyle Mikkelsen where we’ll practice the art of mending clothing through the traditional techniques of darning and sashiko. In a world increasingly burdened by clothing waste, this hands-on workshop empowers participants to revive and repair your garments instead of discarding them. Learn practical skills that not only extend the life of your favorite pieces but also challenge consumerism and fast fashion culture. Together, we’ll celebrate sustainability and creativity, turning the act of repair into an act of rebellion. Don’t just throw away; mend, transform, and reclaim your wardrobe!
Registration is required for this workshop and it is $10 for a basic registration, which includes all the materials you’ll need at the workshop to begin repairing a pair of old socks or a much loved garment with small holes/tears. Or choose to register at the $20 price point to receive a take-home mending kit that includes a darning mushroom, embroidery floss, and sewing needles.
All skill levels welcome! Participants under 14 should be accompanied by an adult.
Unfortunately, we are unable to give refunds for workshop registration unless the workshop is canceled, instructors can’t make it, or in the event of an emergency situation. We thank you for your understanding!
