Based in the San Francisco Bay Area, Polkadot began as a solo project by guitarist/vocalist Daney Espiritu. Their project blossomed into a full band consisting of Anton Benedicto on drums, Jordan Jones on bass, and Matthew Estolano on guitar. Inspired by 90s twee, emo, and a penchant for international pop, Polkadot makes music with a smile on the brink of emotional collapse. Their sophomore album, “…to be crushed,” was released last year on Count Your Lucky Stars, continuing the melodic exploration of twee established in their debut album, “Feeling Okay,” into new sonic territory tinged with emo, pop, and plenty of feedback.
