Indigenous Lands Are Not Wastelands

March 29, 2025 @ 10:00 AM12:00 PM

Free

Since the early 1970s, the federal government has been targeting the Great Basin for nuclear bombing, storage repositories, and mining. The panelists will discuss the consequences of storing nuclear waste, mining uranium & plutonium production, nuclear plants, and changes to the critical minerals list. Join us to learn more about how to prevent further devastation to Indigenous homelands within the Great Basin.

Panelists will include Mary Gibson (Noowuh Knowledge Center), John Hadder (Great Basin Resource Watch), Kerry Rohrmeier (The Nature Conservancy), and Aaron Mintzes (Earthworks). Moderated by Beverly Harry and Austin Pratt.

A silent auction for an original print by Jack Malotte will support the project “Indigenous Lands Are Not Wastelands”. Prior to the panel, there will be a short documentary screening highlighting street artist Chip Thomas. Tamales and other refreshments will be available at no cost to attendees.
