WIP: Disintegrate/Recreate Opening Reception
February 17 @ 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Join us for the opening reception of “Disintegrate/Recreate” an exhibition created and curated by our teen arts program, Work In Progress!
Using “deconstruct and reconstruct” as a theme and jumping off point, teens participating in this year’s WIP program had the opportunity to work with local artists and explore a range of art making processes including polaroid emulsion transfers with Kirsten Mashinter, up-cycled wearables/sustainable fashion with Isabela Reyes-Klein, break and build mosaic sculpture with Jenny Snaza, and stop motion animation with M Jiang. Their culminating exhibition showcases artworks created utilizing these art processes and the skills shared by each visiting artists.
Work in Progress or WIP is an annual, 4-month program introducing advanced art techniques to local high school students through a series of workshops and studio sessions led by practicing artists. Through WIP, students conceptualize and create original artwork utilizing skills learned during the weekly workshops and curate a group exhibition of their work, which is displayed in the Holland Project Gallery.
“Disintegrate/Recreate” in on view in the Holland Project Gallery from February 14 – March 3, 2023 with a special Opening Reception on Friday, Feb. 17 form 5-7pm.
