The 4th Annual Stranger Show

November 15, 2013 @ 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

The Stranger Show is one of Holland’s favorite events! Each year as part of this project, Holland (in partnership with the Nevada Museum of Art and Hug High School) pairs a local artist with a Hug High School art student, and gives them the task to create an original work of art together using the theme “strange” as a jumping off point.  “Strange” as theme is two-fold: 1. the pairs are all strangers to each other, never having met previously; and 2. the word itself connotes multiple meanings and emotions and can be applied and interpreted in many ways in the artwork. The projects are lead by the student, and the artist serves as both a mentor and collaborator.  The final products will be exhibited in the Holland Gallery and will compete for two awards – the Jury Award (as determined by members of Reno’s arts community) and the Audience Award (as determined by votes placed by all those who attend the opening reception!)

Opening Reception is Friday, November 15 @ 6pm. Hug High’s culinary class will be in the house, with their strange creations too. And for the first time ever, the Hug Mariachi Band!

This program is funded in part by a wonderful grant from Art4Moore.
