Sunland: A Holland + Sundance Symposium

February 5, 2014 @ 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Holland Project and Sundance Books and Music announce the launch of Sunland: A Holland + Sundance Symposium, a quarterly salon-style discussion series focused in 2014 on the theme “music.” The series kicks off on Wednesday, February 5at Sundance Books at 6pm with the topic, Tipping Points.

Each event will feature guest speakers, a moderator, and a lively discussion around the chosen theme and topic. A suggested (but not required) reading list will accompany each symposium to fuel the conversation. In addition to books, the list will often include relevant articles, films, and other materials. Participants can prepare for each symposium by reading selections from the list, or they can refer to the list afterward if they want to continue their exploration of a certain topic. The Sunland Symposium Series is designed, as the salons of yore, “to educate and to please.”

The inaugural event’s topic is Tipping Points, focusing on the 90s and the ushering in of the grunge and alternative scene that changed history. Special guest speakers include Megan Jasper of Seattle’s seminal record label Sub Pop Records and Eric Johnson, former roadie and tour manager for Soundgarden and Pearl Jam and currently for Neil Young (the godfather of grunge).  The event will be moderated by Clint Neuerburg, local musician, designer, and owner of his own label, Humaniterrorist Records.

Come down and hang with us! Details below.
