*Day of Show Tickets Available When Doors Open at 8PM

Led by guitarist/vocalist Jessica Boudreaux, Summer Cannibals initially cut their eventually playing with some their musical heroes including L7, Mudhoney, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks, and The War on Drugs. In the last year alone they have toured the country with bands like Cursive, Ted Leo & the Pharmacists and Titus Andronicus. and Pitchfork said that on Full Of It, the Cannibals “expertly balance flame-belching Mad Max riffage with lyrics frankly exploring questions of co-dependence and need.” teeth on the local Portland circuit, released a pair of fantastic full-lengths on their own label, New Moss Records.

The band has since spent an unhealthy amount of time on the road, earning accolades and It seemed only logical that when the band decided to sign to a label, they chose Kill Rock Stars, which has a long history of putting out fearless, female-led bands like Bikini Kill and Sleater-Kinney. Their most recent release, Full Of It, is the band’s defining statement to date. Recorded with producer Chris Woodhouse (Thee Oh Sees, Wild Flag), the LP is one of those massive leaps forward that every band hopes to achieve at least once in their career. Somehow Summer Cannibals keep doing it over and over again. With the band’s line up solidified now by long time drummer Devon Shirley alongside the additions of rippers Cassi Blum on guitar and Ethan Butman on bass they are truly a force to be reckoned with.

The three years since Haybaby’s last release have been long and tumultuous ones for the band. Following the high of their debut release Sleepy Kids and subsequent EP Blood Harvest through Tiny Engines, singer/guitarist Leslie Hong’s father was diagnosed with cancer in 2016, which instigated a life-altering move from New York to Virginia to help see him through a long and ultimately fatal battle with the disease. Over the same period, band members Sam Yield and Jeremy Duvall weathered heartaches of their own; and just when things seemed like they couldn’t get harder, the band’s tour van was incinerated in a random act of arson.

It has been a long three years for Haybaby – not just in terms of calamity, however, but in terms of growth as well: as people, as collaborators, as songwriters. They Get There is the work of a band that has experienced grief, loss, anger, and arson, and instead of giving up or giving in, has persevered and swallowed it all, converting the negative into fuel for hope. If Haybaby can get there, so can you.
