Spoken Views Spotlight Series

June 8, 2016 @ 7:00 PM - 9:00 PM

Guest poets performing spoken word at Holland Project

Ty Davis, a 22-year old feminist and Oklahoma native is studying Broadcast Journalism at Langston University. She has represented Oklahoma City’s Red Dirt Poetry at Women of the World Poetry Slam in 2015 & 2016. Ty chipped her tooth taking the SAT so you know she’s serious about education. She works out roughly twice a year, and sleeps with a Scooby-Doo nightlight. Ty doesn’t drink coffee but writes poetry, so hipsters only sort of understand her. Ty doesn’t know how to swim, but she’s learned in life how not to drown. Her first chapbook Wordplay was released in 2016. Ty’s audio: https://soundcloud.com/user-770007494

Jennifer E. Hudgens, originally from Oklahoma City has been previously published in: Kill Poet, Decomp, Pedestal, Requiem, Divine Carcass, Artistica Magazine, Words Dance Press, Misfit Magazine, Dragon Poet Review, This Land Press, Literary Orphans, Swimming With Elephants Press, Penhall Publishing, Cultured Vultures, Novel Masters, Short Order Poems, The Rain, Party, Disaster Society, Voicemail poems, Literati Press, Drunk in a Midnight Choir, & Clockwise Cat. Jen has also been featured on Indiefeed Performance Poetry. Jennifer is currently pursuing her Bachelor’s degree in Creative Writing at the University of Central Oklahoma where she won the Marilyn Harris Outstanding Undergraduate Student in Creative Writing Award (Spring 2016). Jennifer is Editor of Wicked Banshee Press. Her first full-length collection of poems entitled Girls Who Fell In Love With War was released January 2016 through Swimming With Elephants Publications. She’s taught creative writing classes for middle school kids through The Oklahoma City Arts Council, high school kids at Harding Fine Arts Academy, & workshops at South Western Oklahoma State University. Jen is also known to be a pretty rad substitute teacher. Jennifer thinks life is poetry if you’re paying attention. She watches the sky the way most people watch television. She is terrified of clowns, horses, and animatronic toys. She genuinely hopes you like her poems. Audio: https://soundcloud.com/thehudgepoetry
