“In an industry that favors niche branding and subgenre packaging, Palberta is a difficult band to place. Their music is free and uninhibited in a way that makes it all their own. Often, Palberta songs are marked with a child-like communication — chants and lullabies are met with snarling tantrums, while their instruments coo and careen towards an often abrupt finish. Their playful approach to writing produces work that is hyper-emotional — as jarring as it is soothing and as loopy as it is sinister”. Described by Rolling Stone as sounding like “Basement-show Captain Beefheart”, the Philly/Brooklyn noise-rockers have spent years putting out consistently beautiful and disjointed tracks that we can’t wait to see played live. Joining em, Boys are Reno legends at this point. The trio of young punks have been playing bratty rock tunes since they were early highschoolers, sneaking out on school nights to play shows with likeminded bands like Pookie and the Poodlez, Mannequin Pussy, and Surf Curse. Their music ropes in the intricacies of surf-punk, lo-fi emo, and power-pop into a formidable mix spearheaded by the candid songwriting of Bell and Lizzie, and kept upright by Garret’s drumming. To top it off, Skipper the Eyechild will be making their holland debut with synthy and experimental shredding. We can’t wait to see what these buds have up their sleeves.
