Covid Comix (the book) Release Party
November 28, 2021 @ 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM
Covid Comix began as a time-passer, journal-diary-confessional to weather the early days of the pandemic. Inspired originally by March and April 2020 text messages that went something like, “honestly, I am not doing too good” and intended as a transmission to struggling homies and loved ones, Covid Comix was published online, one issue at a time, in web-comic form, from mid-2020 to mid-2021. Shifting frequently – manically? – from deeply personal to big-picture, from optimism to cynicism, from philosophy to politics, from today to once upon a time, the comix are a long-form attempt at sincere self-expression. There are silly panels, stream-of-consciousness essays, portraits, stories, a play, and lots of unanswered questions, all in thick black ink on paper.
All twenty-three issues are collected in this print edition, limited to 100 copies. A reception will feature a short reading and open conversation with painter/professor/Zomboo impersonator Austin Pratt. Delicious snacks will be provided. Buy Covid Comix at a special release-day price at this event only and read all the comix online at covidcomix.com.
