A Conversation w/ James Spooner

March 28 @ 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM

Holland is partnering with the Radical Cat and KWNK for this awesome free author event featuring graphic artist, tattoo artist, curator and filmmaker, James Spooner. Spooner will be chatting about his latest book, The High Desert, an earnest graphic novel about growing up Black and punk in the California desert.

We’ll chat with James about writing and drawing practices, tattooing, music, DIY community-building, co-founding the AfroPunk Music festival and creating the documentary Afro-Punk, and more! He’ll be in conversation with Donovan Williams, longtime Reno musician and real-life alter ego of DJ Atey Ate of Colloquial Sounds on KWNK 97.7.

This FREE event takes place at the Radical Cat (1717 S Wells, next to Magpie Coffee). Please RSVP if you’d like to attend in person or virtually!  Check out more James Spooner at www.spoonersnofun.com and, if you’d like to watch the AFROPUNK: The Movie (the documentary directed by Spooner), check it out HERE!
