The Holland Project’s Curator Series invites regional & national artist-curators to organize art and humanities programs in collaboration with HP Galleries. The series aims to expand the scope of conversations presented by curators and exhibiting artists beyond our gallery walls through programs that engage all departments of our organization: art, music, workshops, and community.

Tight Knit Group is an informal gathering place for all those interested in fiber art/craft. Started in the Fall of 2022 by Ingrid Stumpf, Anna Newman, and Eunkang Koh, the group has grown and hosts fiber workshops, film screenings, and exhibitions, as well as a fiber show and zine titled Clothesline. Selections from Clothesline traveled to the Reno Tahoe International Art Show through the curatorial efforts of Camryn Maher. Although the scope of projects is ever-growing, Tight Knit Group remains at its heart, a small group of fiber-interested people who meet to share community, ideas, techniques, materials, food, and stories.
Camryn Maher is a mixed media and installation artist who creates work about emotions, color, memories, and experience. Originally from the Great Basin, Camryn is a Master of Fine Arts Candidate and Instructor at the University of Nevada, Reno. Using painting, collage, ephemera, light, fiber work, and more in her practice, she is motivated by synesthetic perceptions, encounters with nature, and feelings that don’t go away. Her artistic philosophy is motivated by work that encapsulates instances of deeply touching personal experience, communicates poignant moments, and motivates internal reflection and resonance. If you’re ever looking at the moon she is probably looking at it too.
Anna Newman is a PhotoLucida Critical Mass Finalist and the recipient of two Weston Scholarship awards in photography. Her documentary films have been exhibited at film festivals and museums in the United States and Canada. Anna is a project-based artist whose work resonates with history even as she creates fresh objects and images with beauty and power of their own. A graduate of Mills College, Anna is a MFA Candidate in Interdisciplinary Visual Arts at the University of Nevada, Reno, where she is currently developing work about Nevada’s giant sand dunes.
Ingrid Stumpf is an artist-crafter born and raised in the Reno foothills where she found her passion for plants, animals, and art. She eventually left to study at the University of California, Davis. Graduating in 2022 with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts and Art History. There she was introduced to ceramics at the historic TB9, where she began working full-time on sculptures and learning how to run the kilns. Currently she is a Master of Fine Arts Candidate and Instructor at the University of Nevada, Reno. Immersed in ceramics and fiber, she plays with the weird, the uncanny, and the beautiful. Often focused on animals, patterns, and the natural world, her forms exist as vessels or sites to explore the human condition without the burden of a human body.

david delfin
july 27 -august 2, 2024
David Deflin is a born and raised Nevadan, sculptor, and digital media artist based in Reno, Nevada. While attending the University of Nevada, Reno, Delfin studied Sculpture in the Bachelor of Fine Arts program and Visual Communication through Reynold’s School of Journalism. His work has been featured in collaborative and group exhibitions at Holland Project and its offsite galleries, Sierra Arts Depot Gallery, UNR, and has been featured as part of Holland Project’s Billboard Gallery. Currently, he serves as the Gallery Manager for HP Galleries.

Of the sol collective residency

“We are a collective of Black and Brown artists from Reno, NV, mobilizing to cultivate an intersectional safe space for Black, Indigenous, and Artists of Color. As Black and Brown artists, we are committed to nurturing our autonomy outside the framework of traditional, predominately white-serving institutions. We use art as a medium for social justice, fostering representation and belonging as we demand accessibility, equity, and inclusivity.”
Of the Sol is an artist collective formed in 2024, founded by Ruby Barrientos, Jordyn Owens, and Ricardo Rubalcaba Paredes. Over the course of several months during their HP Galleries curatorial residency, the collective produced six exhibitions and pop-ups in addition to community gatherings, workshops, screenings, and networking opportunities for artists. Of the Sol’s programming was supported in part by an Equity Expansion Grant from the City of Reno Arts & Culture Commission.
