The Holland Project offers youth and teen-focused arts programming in addition to our monthly all-ages workshops. This includes crafting camps for kids and families during Washoe County school breaks, a rock-n-roll music instruction summer camp for self-identifying girls and non-binary youth, a semester-long afterschool meet-up for high school-aged visual artists, as well as open group exhibitions for anyone under 21 and teen-driven arts festivals. About: Work in Progress (or WIP) is semester-long visual arts program and meet-up introducing advanced art techniques to local high school students through a series of workshops and studio sessions led by practicing artists. During WIP, students conceptualize and create original artwork utilizing skills developed at weekly workshops and curate a group exhibition of their work which is professionally displayed in the Holland Project Gallery. Applications for our next WIP session open in August 2023, and the program will run from September 2023-February 2024.
About: BLOOM is a seasonal open mic night for all youth under 18. Music, poetry, and spoken word are all welcome on the stage! The next BLOOM open mic night will take place in fall of 2023. Official dates and sign-ups coming soon. For questions or more info email ilya@hollandreno.org.
About: Young Blood is a group exhibition occurring twice per year in the Holland Project Galleries. It is open for submissions by any regional artist under 21. Each artist may display 1-2 pieces, will learn how to professionally hang their work in a gallery setting, and can even sell their work. Each Young Blood exhibition culminates in a final event and celebration. The next Young Blood exhibition takes place October 10 – 13, 2023. Artist sign-ups will open in August 2023.
About: Kid Craft is a week-long morning crafting camp for youth ages 5-12. The workshops take place from 9am-12pm each day of camp and parents/guardians are welcome to join their kiddos in creating a variety of themed projects or may drop-off and return at noon. Rates are available for single days or the whole week at a discount. The next Kid Craft session is scheduled for January 2-5, 2024 during WCSD winter break.
About: We’re excited to partner with our friends at The Glass Die for Game Week! This week-long board game camp is geared towards kids ages 9-13 and is designed to enhance skills such as problem-solving, critical thinking, communication, and teamwork. It’s a great opportunity for kids to socialize, make new friends, and have fun all while learning and playing a variety of new board games curated by the Glass Die. Come play with us!! Game play happens from 1-4pm each day at the Holland Project and pre-registration is required. It’s $20/kid for single days or $75/kid for the full week and we’ll provide the snacks! About: Girls Rock Reno (or GRR) is an annual music summer camp at The Holland Project for youth ages 9- 17. GRR provides music instruction in vocals, guitar, bass, and drums to participants of all skill levels, supported by valuable workshops in rock history, stage confidence, art and design, radio and music production, and more. We strive to promote self-love with programs that foster not only creativity and community-building but also confidence and empowerment. GRR promotes skills to guide participants throughout their lives.
About: Fresh Meat is a seasonal showcase for emerging local bands of all genres. Priority is given to musicians and bands who haven’t played a show yet and/or musicians under 21, but brand new bands who haven’t played at Holland Project before are also encouraged to apply!
