New Glyph Gallery utilizes the giphy.com space for virtual exhibitions. Artworks live on The Holland Project’s branded account and are available for use on Instagram and any other app where gif “stickers” can be shared. The works are on view for three months, searchable through the tag “hpgalleries” and the exhibiting artist’s name.

Emily MacDiarmid’s Select All Images That Exist is a compilation of gifs reflecting on verification within a digital space. Based on the Computer Automated Public Turing Test to Tell Computers and Humans Apart, otherwise known as CAPTCHA, this compilation considers the processes and implications of verifying existence on social platforms. A digital image can be considered an element of the human experience but is also a collection of easily manipulated pixels. Just as an image CAPTCHA may cause one to question what a bus or crosswalk is, social platforms may cause one to question the validity of individual aesthetics and personal attributes. Within this space, verifying the status as a robot or human becomes irrelevant.
